K-12, Childcare and Secondary Education Assistance

The Pueblo of Isleta is pleased to announce an emergency assistance to support necessary financial assistance to Tribal Members for unanticipated COVID-19 related educational and childcare expenses.

Funding for this grant is provided by the CARES Act that was passed on March 27, 2020.

K-12 Assistance

  • Provides $500 per student assistance.
  • Eligibility
    • Must be a tribal member who has a student in the grade levels of K-12; and
    • Submit a written application certifying impact by COVID-19.
  • Allowable Expenses
    • New distance learning costs;
    • Increased food costs;
    • Increased school supply costs;
    • Personal Protective Equipment; and
    • Limited Childcare.
  • Pursuant to the guidance issued by the Internal Revenue Service on July 6, 2020, this assistance is a non-taxable and excluded from your gross income under the general welfare exclusion.

Childcare Assistance

  • Provides $500 per child for childcare assistance.
  • Eligibility
    • Must be a tribal member who is a resident of the Pueblo of Isleta;
    • Must have child dependents who require supervision and the parent / guardian is unable to provide such supervision; and
    • Submit a written application certifying impact by COVID-19.
  • Allowable Expenses
    • Provide childcare for dependents.
    • Parent / Guardian may be required to submit additional information and proof of childcare payments.
  • Pursuant to the guidance issued by the Internal Revenue Service on July 6, 2020, this assistance is a non-taxable and excluded from your gross income under the general welfare exclusion.

Secondary Education Assistance

  • Provides $5,000 assistance to secondary education students.
  • Eligibility
    • Must be a tribal member currently receiving educational support from DOE.
  • DOE will be contacting students to submit application.
  • Allowable Expenses
    • New distance learning costs;
    • Increased food costs;
    • Increased school costs;
    • Personal protective equipment; and
    • Limited childcare.
  • Pursuant to the guidance issued by the Internal Revenue Service on July 6, 2020, this assistance is a non-taxable and excluded from your gross income under the general welfare exclusion.
