  2. Senior Companion

Senior Companions are volunteers age 55 and over who provide assistance and friendship to frail elders.

Companions help these adults remain independent in their homes instead of having to relocate in an institution. Senior Companions give families and/or professional caregivers much needed time off from their duties. When you volunteer, you’re not only making a difference in the life of another—you’re also helping yourself. Volunteering leads to new opportunities, discoveries and friends. Plus, studies show that volunteering increases your life span and promotes a positive outlook on life.

Senior Companions must meet the following requirements:

  • Must be 55 years of age or older
  • Volunteer 20 hours per week
  • Enjoy helping others
  • Income eligible

Companion Benefits may include:

  • Tax-free stipend
  • On-going Training
  • Mileage reimbursement
  • Supplemental Vehicle Insurance
